Root Canal Treatment

A precise, comfortable way to relieve pain, clear infection, and save your natural tooth.
About

A Focus On Comfort

A root canal is often associated with discomfort or complexity, but in reality, it’s a very straightforward treatment designed with one clear purpose: to save a tooth that has become infected or irritated inside.

Most patients are surprised by how manageable the experience feels. With modern techniques and effective local anaesthetic, the focus is on comfort while we take care of the underlying issue.

Inside each tooth is a small inner space that contains nerves and blood supply. When bacteria reach this area, often through deep decay, a crack, or an injury, it can lead to persistent pain, sensitivity, or swelling. A root canal addresses this directly, treating the source of the problem while keeping the outer structure of the tooth intact.

Early Treatment

When a Root Canal May Be Needed

This treatment is recommended when the inner part of a tooth is no longer healthy, but the tooth itself can still be preserved. Common situations include:

  • Deep decay that has reached the inner layers of the tooth
  • A crack or fracture exposing the inside of the tooth
  • Ongoing sensitivity or pain that doesn’t settle
  • Swelling or pressure around a specific tooth
  • Trauma or injury affecting the tooth

Left untreated, infection can spread and the tooth may eventually be lost. Treating it early gives us the best chance of saving it.

Preservation

What The Treatment Involves

A root canal involves removing the inflamed or infected tissue from inside the tooth. Once that area is cleaned and disinfected, it is carefully sealed to protect it from future infection.

In many cases, a crown is recommended afterward to restore strength and function.

In simple terms, the inside of the tooth is treated, cleaned, and sealed, then the tooth is rebuilt so it can continue working normally.

How It Helps

Why Saving The Tooth Matters

Whenever possible, keeping your natural tooth is the preferred option. A root canal helps:

  • Relieve ongoing pain or pressure
  • Eliminate infection at its source
  • Maintain your natural bite and alignment
  • Restore normal chewing function
  • Avoid extraction and replacement options

For many patients, relief is noticeable once the source of infection has been treated.

The Process

What To Expect During Treatment

Modern root canal treatment is typically no more uncomfortable than having a filling done. The area is fully numbed, and you’ll be comfortable throughout the procedure.

We access the inside of the tooth, remove the affected tissue, thoroughly clean and shape the canals, and then seal everything to protect it. If needed, a crown is placed afterward to reinforce the tooth and help it function long term.

Feel Improvement

After Your Appointment

Most patients feel improvement relatively quickly once the infection is removed. Mild tenderness can occur for a short time, but the original pain is usually resolved.

With proper care and regular dental visits, a tooth that has had a root canal can remain healthy and functional for many years.

At Roytec Dental Centre, our focus is always on keeping treatment calm, clear, and as comfortable as possible. If a tooth can be saved, we’ll do everything we can to preserve it and guide you through the process in a way that feels straightforward and manageable.
